The Pledge of Allegiance

The Pledge of Allegiance is an outward expression of support for our country and it's principles.  Together with the flag itself, we have a number of images that are uniquely American: the Statue of Liberty, the Washington Monument, the White House, the Capitol Building, Mount Rushmore, the Grand Canyon and others.  These images are reminders of the freedoms that we enjoy and that we espouse to all the world in an effort to encourage others to fight for and achieve the same freedoms for themselves in their own nations.  These images are easier to recall and remember than the wording of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

An unwillingness to recite the Pledge of Allegiance is tantamount to a rejection of our freedoms.  An unwillingness to accept the phrase "under God" and the FACT that God is the author of our freedom is both a rejection of God and a rejection of all that this country stands for!  I would very strongly recommend that everyone, especially anyone who is a new citizen or who questions the connection between God and this nation, should see the video "America's Godly Heritage" by David Barton and the Coumbia Tri-Star video "1776" based on the Broadway musical of the same name.

I Pledge Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, One Nation under God, Indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for All.

It is extremely important that every citizen of this nation understand the priceless principles of freedom that are the foundation of this nation.  Unfortunately, the power brokers of the world don't want us to continue in freedom.  It is quite obvious that a segment of the Arab world has a collective sick mind that is intent on keeping women from enjoying freedom and desires to return Iraq to the power-mad pit of inquity that existed under Saddam Hussein.  They are attempting their own reign of terror, including the 9/11 attack on our nation, as well as attacks on many other nations.  These people use religion as an excuse, but in reality they have perverted religion to the purposes of Satan.  They have absolutely no knowledge of God.

In contrast, our founding fathers were not oppressors but a group seeking religious freedom.  They understood that, while there should not be a state-run religion, there are basic Christian principles that must be accepted and maintained by the people for a nation to be free.  A thorough reading of our documents of freedom and the writings of our founders makes this quite clear.  The mention of God is frequent in all of their writings.  Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln (and many others) frequently called upon God for help in accomplishing the tasks which lay before them.

Polls have shown that 86% of Americans believe in God.  Someone who does not believe in God has absolutely no right to distort or destroy the principles on which this nation was founded.  Instead they should get out - go and live in one of the unfortunate nations where God is ignored -- they will soon see that it is better to live in America with the people of God.  Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord! (Psalms 33:12)
